The Passage du Gois

The Passage du Gois is located 20 minutes from the campsite.
Located in Vendée, the Passage du Gois is a natural and historical landmark that connects the island of Noirmoutier to the mainland. Approximately 4 kilometers long, this submersible path is only passable at low tide, offering a fascinating spectacle between land and sea.

This rare phenomenon is due to a significant tidal range in Bourgneuf Bay. Each day, the sea covers and then uncovers the passage according to the rhythm of the tides, creating an ephemeral link between two worlds. It is therefore important to check the timetables before venturing there, because the water returns quickly!

Famous among hikers, cyclists, and even shore fishermen, the Passage du Gois also attracts curious onlookers who come to admire its unusual character. It is a place steeped in history, witnessing local traditions and challenges for inattentive travelers.
